For a typical south Indian like me living on Rotis ( check the link ! wiki does amazing job! ) of north India is not easy. And that is impossible if something south Indian food is available. Kumbh is such a great event that anything is available here. Hardest thing is to find what you want in this big chaos! We were very happy to see Masala Dosa and I was more happy when I saw this monalisa kid Divya , daughter of the Dosa seller . What most attracted me is her smile , perfect monalisa smile! She was very active, running around, ‘helping’ her papa in making dosa and occasionally give the ‘monalisa’ smile. I had no choice but decide to capture her ‘monalisa’ smile in ‘monalisa’ pose ( ok, not so close but I got it very close 😉 ) . Believe me this Dosa was nowhere closer to the one I usually eat in the streets of Bangalore but to capture Divya’s smile I had to eat three!
I observed the Dosa maker was struggling to meet the demand from the customer. When i asked he said he is the only one in this street who knows , makes dosas and people have to stand in lines. he said Kumbhmela is life time opportunity for making money for many. He says once the Mela is over then he is nothing. So he wants to make as many dosas as possible, sell and make some good money to improve his little hotel’s condition. he laughed ” Pandith hona chahiye thaa saab, lakho kamaaleta!” ( He should have beed Priest at Mela, and would have earned in lakhs!) !
