LOKA : FOLK PRACTICES OF KARNATAKA
These stories are part of my ongoing project ” Folk practices of Karnataka” from past one year. There is a need of visual documentation of these practices as most of the practices are either dying or changing due to modern metamorphosis.
Project SKaAT
SHOWCASING KARNATAKA’S ANCIENT PAST

Project SKaAT (Showcasing Karnataka’s Ancient Treasures) is a group formed by Dinesh Maneer to execute the initiative of the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Government of Karnataka, dedicated to documenting and presenting the state’s prehistoric legacy.

POM:Portraits of Mother
Dinesh Maneer, through years of conversations with artists, photographers, and environmentalists, found his thoughts evolving as two seemingly different ideas gradually merged into one. While traveling to capture grand landscapes and their vibrant colors, he began to notice quieter, more personal visuals—forms without drama or spectacle, simple and unadorned, like nature itself or the expression of a human face.
PORTRAITS
A Journey Through People, Stories, and Expressions
Dinesh Maneer has photographed a wide range of personalities, from noted Hindustani classical musicians such as Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, and Rajan–Sajan Mishra, to Kannada literary stalwarts, theatre practitioners, folk artists, historians, actors, politicians, and everyday individuals. Through his work, he combines photography with conversation, seeking to reveal the emotions and inner narratives that define each subject.

Responsible Tourism Initiatives- Karnataka

This body of work documents various responsible tourism initiatives undertaken across Karnataka through publications, exhibitions, and articles. In collaboration with the Karnataka Tourism Department, Dinesh Maneer has contributed to nine coffee table books that promote awareness of diverse tourism sectors including cultural and agricultural tourism.
