a monsoon day in village Hegde

When it rains in Kumta it rains like anything. If you see the Geography of Kumta you can easily understand it comes right after the great western ghats end near the coastal line of Karnataka. So more rain in the Ghats results in flooded villages in Kumta. Hegde is a small village in Kumta city very close to estuary of river Aghanashini and always one of the first few villages which sees the bitter side of river flooding . Sudden rise in water fills nearby agricultural lands and many small villages become islands. But interestingly locals are so used to it that they always prepared for it. If the flood gets worse locals are given shelter in the nearby schools by the government.This year shortage of rain resulted in very small flood in the river and people enjoyed this short flood.
