Portrait making is an exciting adventure . This adventure becomes more challenging when visiting remote places. First challenge is to spotting the people whom we want to capture. And then comes the challenge of getting closer to them and engage them . There is no need of jumping right infront him /her and start shooting with your camera like a psychotic gunman ! Talking to them , letting them to know about us and our intentions are most important steps . If they are happy to pose to you then you have the next challenge to capture the emotion. Easy way to do that is capture couple of their smiling or laughing pictures , show it to them and make them happy. Then hunt for a nice moment to capture the emotion that suits the face . Any portrait with emotion and a story within becomes a very powerful portraiture. Light and colors are just add-on to make the portraiture. But we should never forget a fact that sometime solely a good lighting and colors can make a portraiture pop-out !
Once flourished Badami under the kingdom of Badami Chalukyas during the century is now ordinary dry district with all the remains that tell stories of those glorifying days . The people of Badami mainly depend on agriculture through tourism is also a quite a good earning these days. Wandering around the streets of Badami can tell you that . Kids ask one rupee , they ask pens, they sometime ask foods! You give one rupee thinking “Oh poor kid ” but that is just a start ! you get more kids now asking you money ! Then you see parents coming shouting on their kids why they asking money. Security people chasing away those kids who are troubling tourists. Boys can become guide for ten rupee. Old people who are quite strong but sitting in front of their house with a strange look on their face.
Anyway I had fun making some portraits here and some embarrassing moments as well which I will write in another post. So here are the few portraits I made.
