Hemkund: the lake in the heavens – Dinesh Maneer

Hemnkund( Hem = snow Kund=Bowl ) was literally became a snow filled lake due to sudden overnight snowfall . Pilgrims who were visiting this lake to take blessings from the famouse Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib discouraged but their will to reach the top unchanged.

hundreds start climbing this mountain to reach this lake situated at 4632 Mtrs

The steep climb is 6KM long and 1200 Mts ascend . Some were climbing barefoot which they took as oath and offering to god

Ponies are the best friends when it comes to such pilgrim areas in Himalayas. With a little money they take you to top in very short period of time .

My friend and trek partner Manjunath rests in the halfway to the top near a tea shop

there is nothing in the world to hike to such pilgrimage with your loved ones!

and the valley is amazingly beautiful. If you closely observer you can see pilgrims climbing up
