Buying a new camel is not easy business ! Selecting first is the most difficult phase and then moving the camel to their new location is even more difficult unlike the case of cattle. When we visited Bikaner’s camel research center were lucky to see the second event.

When we entered the research center we were so disappointed that we started yelling why one would put this center in a tourist book of Bikaner. But you know, unplanned photography adventure is always exciting and surprising . After walking down a little we saw a group of people in a compound with four camels. We went near and learned that these people are from a nearby village and have just bought a young camel. Now their task is to tie down the camel and put him on a truck .
Let me tell you , they took literally 1.5 hours and twice they almost given up if not an experienced elder did not help them! Task is to put a rope on the camel’s neck and wrestle him down to ground so that they can tie its leg . For almost an hour they kept trying to put the rope around his neck. Every time he would escape from it . He even tried to jump the compound before the outsiders scared him off ! Finally when the group got the rope where they wanted they pulled him down to the ground . One guy calmed him by patting on his neck and other two folded his leg and tied his leg so that he cannot move. Finally they managed to push him on to the back of the truck successfully .
I kept clicking , even I got a little beating which was supposed for the camel in the rush to capture. But that was an incredible experience in Rajasthan.
