I feel short of words when it comes to explaining the beauty of my hometown during rainy season

I never miss a  chance to walk through that one road during monsoon months which gives me immense gratitude and a sense of freshness. This road falls on left after a  narrow road leads away from the little town of Hegde towards the divine Aghanashini  river to a small boat ramp area, locals call it as Hegde tari. On the right side river Aghanashini flows silently while on the left side one can see  vast paddy fields and fishermen  houses in the river estuary area

In the backdrop of the river stands the majestic Western ghats which turn the entire scene in to  nature’s canvas. Not to forget the famous  Mirjan fort which is on the  other side of the  river and a small island called AigalaKurve , full of paddy fields and a unique Bhabruvahana  temple. Famous Kagga rice  ( a native variety of rice which can be grown in salinity and submerged conditions )  is grown here during the rainy days.

In the month of Monsoon these areas are full of agricultural and fishing related activities. Local farmers keep traveling to the island by boats. I have seen many times ladies, children using boats like a Pro in these areas.  As I walk I can see hundreds of boats scattered everywhere both in the river and on the ground.

I stand there watching these boats on the riverside , moving slowly by the calm but yet moving water

It is like standing in front of a painting where the boats and clouds keep moving and changing positions to give many unexpected visuals leading to aesthetic enjoyment

I walk here for hours sometime early in the morning or late in the evening. Seeing it raining and getting drenched in pouring rain is few of the experiences never to miss here. Open skies gives me an idea when it is going to rain. I can decide to open or not open umbrella

I have seen many sunrises and sunsets here but nothing can match the dull colors that monsoon brings.

The good thing about monsoon colors is there are not much color in the scene!

If one can focus well enough we can see some amazing form and texture which is the reason I can still photograph hundreds of photos every time I walk here in monsoon. These photos are shot over last tow visits I made here . I have used flash lights and filters to achieve many of the effects here

technical details :

Canon 6D with Canon 17-40 lens

Flash mounted on camera is used to lit the foreground subtly

Lee .6 GND filter is used to get the even lighting throughout the image
